Blue Bell, PA – July 22, 2014 – Since its founding in 2011, Lily’s Sweets has been making mouthwatering stevia-sweetened chocolate – and using chocolate lovers’ affection for the no sugar added treats in positive ways. Each year, Lily’s Sweets contributes a percentage of profits to organizations that support the health and wellbeing of children, and the company has now identified the recipients of this year’s donations: Camp Cranium, Community Rocks!, Hope for Henry, Camp Okizu and MaxLove Project.
“We founded this company to not only make great tasting, no sugar added chocolates, but also to be able to give back in ways we otherwise would not have been able to,” said Cynthia Tice, Lily’s Sweets’ co-founder and president. “Making these annual donations is such an important part of what we do, and we are grateful to everyone who has bought our chocolates in the last year.”
Tice founded Lily’s Sweets along with friend Chuck Genuardi, and they named the company after Chuck’s niece, Lily, an inspired – and inspiring – young lady and childhood brain cancer survivor. Since being diagnosed at age seven, Lily has worked to raise money for other kids battling cancer. She is now 13, is cancer-free and remains dedicated to helping others in need.
In addition to honoring Lily by naming the company after her, the founders pledged to use a percentage of profits each year to support organizations working in the same vein as Lily. This year, the following five non-profits will receive the company’s donations:
Camp Cranium – A summer camp in Pennsylvania dedicated to providing a one-of-a-kind experience for children with brain injuries.
Community Rocks! — A New Jersey program devoted to teaching kids to believe in themselves through music, arts, and wellness programs.
Hope for Henry — A Washington, D.C.-based foundation whose in-hospital gifts, parties and events help promote comfort and laughter for children and their families.
Camp Okizu – A California-based organization committed to supporting families with childhood cancer.
MaxLove Project — A California-based organization dedicated to empowering families fighting childhood cancers and life-threatening conditions with education, research and advocacy.
Lily’s Sweets’ premium, mouthwatering chocolates have no added sugar – instead, it makes use of the natural plant-based sweetener stevia. The result is great tasting chocolate with 20-25% fewer calories than conventional chocolates, but 100% of the indulgence. The company’s products include stevia-sweetened velvety dark chocolate bars, creamy 40% chocolate bars made with milk, and premium dark chocolate baking chips. In addition to supporting children’s cancer causes, Lily’s Sweets is further committed to operating ethically and sustainably. Its bars and baking chips are made with chocolate that is Certified Fair Trade, and they contain only ingredients that are non-GMO and certified gluten free.
